Dr. Renante R. Violanda

Renante R. Violanda, Ph.D. is a Full Professor and the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City, Philippines. Prior to his appointment as Dean, he served as Chair of the Department of Physics at USC for two consecutive terms (six years).

Dr. Violanda earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of San Carlos (2019), an M.S. in Physics from the University of the Philippines Diliman (2003), and a B.S. in Physics from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (1998).

His primary research focuses on the application of white noise analysis to stochastic systems, acoustic analysis, digital signal processing, and environmental noise assessment. A dedicated educator and prolific researcher, Dr. Violanda advocates for accessible, technology-integrated physics education, frequently publishing on the use of everyday tools—such as smartphones, sound-based measurements, and Arduino boards—to demonstrate core physical concepts in the classroom.
