Guidelines for Parallel Oral Presentation
The DOST-Science Education Institute, in collaboration with the ASTHRDP-National Science Consortium will be holding the 14th ASTHRDP Graduate Scholars’ Conference on 17-18 September 2026 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City, Western Visayas with the theme “Science and Technology that Works for the People”.
This guideline is intended for scholars whose papers have been accepted for oral presentation in the Conference.
I. General Provisions
1. Eligibility: All ongoing (AY 2025-2026) ASTHRDP scholars in their thesis/dissertation stage with at least 80% results, and graduates of AY 2024-2025 and AY 2025-2026, who have not yet presented their theses/dissertations in the past Graduate Scholars’ Conferences, are eligible to submit their papers for presentation during the 2026 Conference.
2. Categories: Parallel Oral Presentations are grouped according to categories.
a. Category 1. Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Science and Fisheries, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, and Marine Science)
b. Category 2. Biological & Health Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Health, and Pharmaceuticals Sciences)
c. Category 3. Physical Sciences (Chemical, Earth and Atmospheric, Space, Material Science, Nanotech, Pure and Applied Physics)
d. Category 4. Mathematical & Computational Sciences (Information Technology, Computer Science, Communication, Statistics, Pure and Applied Mathematics)
II. Preparation and Submission
Template: Please prepare your presentation using Oral Presentation Template
Editing Platform: You may use programs like PowerPoint and Canva to create your slide presentation.
Resolution: Use graphics with a high resolution of at least 300 ppi.
File name: “Oral-Category Number_First Letter of Your Given Name-Surname.” Example: Oral1_JDelaCruz.
Submission: Submit both the PowerPoint/Canva and PDF versions of your presentation to the Submission Portal on or before September 2, 2026. Any revision to the submitted presentations will no longer be accepted after the said date.

a. The oral presentation will be done face-to-face.
b. The schedule of your presentation is indicated in your acceptance letter.
c. Oral presenters are given 10 minutes to present their work and answer questions from the Judges and the audience during the 5-minute open forum.
2. Plan Well: Organize your presentation to be able tell the pertinent details of your work within the allocated time. There are several online resources that can help you with your presentation. 3. Acknowledge Sources/Sponsors: Avoid copyright infringement by properly acknowledging pictures that are not your own.
Be reminded of the term in the scholarship agreement you signed regarding any research output while under the scholarship.
4. Back-up: Please bring your own laptop with the file of your presentation in case of technical difficulties.
IV. Presentation Etiquette
Attire: You are expected to wear smart casual/ business casual attire during your presentation.
Punctuality: You must be in your assigned breakout room 30 minutes prior to your presentation to avoid delays in the program.
V. Failure to Attend
Non-attendance: Once the presenters qualify for the parallel oral presentation and confirm their attendance at the conference, they will be expected to attend the two-day conference since DOST-SEI has allotted a budget for all confirmed participants that includes the venue rental, food, accommodation, conference collaterals, and other related collaterals. Non-attendance shall be subject to a refund of the abovementioned expenses.
